Recent Events:

Longtown & District Historical Society had an interesting visit on Saturday 17th May to Craswall Grandmontine Priory, led by expert Kate Douglas. Since it was built 800 or so years ago it’s been investigated by archaeologists a number of times but still poses many unanswered questions. A fascinating place.

Information about the Priory can be found on: https://www.ewyaslacy.org.uk/…/Digita…/2023/cgs_cra_0007

The Local History Open Day held by the Society on Sunday 16th March proved to be a great success with over 80 attended the event throughout the day. To look at some of the pictures taken during the event, go to the LINKS page and click on the Facebook link (the top one). If you have not yet joined the LDHS Facebook page, this is a good opportunity to do so. It is there for members of the Society to communicate with each other and post their. own ideas and photographs. Please make the most of it!
