Saturday 17 May 2025 2.30pm, Craswall Priory.

Organised by the Longtown and District Historical Society with the Grandmontine Society as part of the Herefordshire Histories Festival, we offer a tour of the rarely accessible site of the Grandmontine Priory at Craswall guided by Grandmontine expert Kate Douglas. £5 per person in advance, payment details provided once you have secured a booking.

We have a maximum of 25 places so early booking is advised. Contact  jerrypdavis@outlook.com

The site was subject to extensive excavation from the early 20th century, and more information is available on the Ewyas Lacy.org website.

It is hoped that parking will be on Abbey Farm, but it is possible that car share may be required from Craswall Village Hall. Weather appropriate clothing and footwear advised. The site is on a working farm and uneven surfaces will be encountered.

Recent Event

The Local History Open Day held by the Society on Sunday 16th March proved to be a great success with over 80 attended the event throughout the day. If you have not yet joined the LDHS Facebook page, this is a good opportunity to do so. It is there for members of the Society to communicate with each other and post their. own ideas and photographs. Please make the most of it!
